The American Civil War: History in an Hour by Kat Smutz

3.0

For a one hour history, this one is actually pretty good. I would have given it four stars, but Smutz speaks of “the inequality inherent in the Declaration of Independence,” which is a ridiculous notion since it clearly states “ALL men are created equal.” Truth be told, it would take decades before personal sentiments and societal norms would be challenged and changed, but the seeds of liberty were planted in the founding documents of our country, something that needed only to be recognized and affirmed by future generations. In that regard then, the Declaration of Independence did NOT contain inherent inequality, but an unrecognized equality. An important distinction.
