sarainfantasyland 's review for:
Rebel Spring
by Morgan Rhodes
I've decided not to write a full fledged review of this one but just wanted to mention that despite my disappointment with Falling Kingdoms, I found that I enjoyed Rebel Springs much more than I did book 1. And I'm not sure if that's just because I'm finally getting out of my weird reading funk, if I'm getting used to Rhode's writing style, or if its because the story really does get better with each book but regardless, I have finally started to become invested in this series.
I still have some problems with the predictable plot and slightly chaotic writing but overall, this was a rather fun read for me. I began to care and become more invested in the characters - or a few in particular. I liked the broadening off the world and the intriguing role of magic. I really enjoyed the tension and hint of the romances for the books to come. And the finally the main quest and purpose of the story was revealed.
A lot of the potential I saw on Falling Kingdoms is starting to be taken advantage of in Rebel Springs and since I've been told books 3 and 4 are worth trudging through the chaotic mess of the first two, I'm looking forward to moving onto Gathering Darkness.
