The Young Elites by Marie Lu

What. A. Shame. I read the book after my brother told me he liked it and boy, did I feel quite the opposite towards this book. Adelina, as the main character is boring and just simply dumb. I could have tolerated or just misunderstood her as someone who is less educated with the outside world but then she proves me wrong for being someone who doesn't even have concrete thoughts. She accepts any piece of advice thrown at her, is easily manipulated, and is fickleminded- yet she learns to control her power after a one-on-one with her love interest? Teren seems to be the only character that was worth reading. Everything just seems so simple for Adelina. And it's not only the characters that made me gave this such a low rating. The prose? I mean, if the goal was to keep things simple I'd understand but then I had to read sentences like "I was stuck in the crowd. I got out." then I don't see the reason as to having this book over 300 pages long.
