Dulci's Legacy by Margaret Pinard

4.0

I know Margaret Pinard from YouTube, but this review is my honest opinion.

I wanted to read this book because I've read Margaret Pinard's other four books. Since this one is a young adult supernatural story with romance elements, I thought maybe I wasn't the target audience, but I ended up enjoying the read. While the book differs in many ways from Pinard's historical fiction novels, it contains a lot of the same elements and that's one of the reasons I enjoyed it so much.

The author does a great job of capturing the culture of the indigenous people while also providing a coming of age story for the female protagonist. I highly recommend this story to fans of coming of age stories with supernatural or spiritual elements in them. I'm a little surprised there isn't a sequel to this one yet, since it could very well provide the basis for an entire series.

Side note: As a fan of the Remnants trilogy, I caught use of the word "keening" and discussion of a tree and its roots.
