Well, this had some interesting points. Overall, though, I received this as pretty alarmist without offering any true alternatives or direction for how to change the landscape of toxic social media culture.

I don’t necessarily disagree with the author’s stance. I just think it’s unrealistic and not helpful to say “hey this thing is evil, you should stop doing it. Look I did it and I’m fine.”

As someone who depends on social media for my livelihood, it does scare me to know now how involved these companies are in the most personal parts of my life. If I’ve taken anything from this it’s that maybe I could pull back a touch. But a complete deletion isn’t an option for me right now.
