For readers of book length narratives about historical disasters, this book follows a familiar but not unwelcome formula for the genre. As interesting as a snapshot of life on the Canadian home front during WWI as it was for its account of the disaster and its aftermath. Sadly at the time of this reading, the exceptionally friendly ties between the US and Canada the author takes for granted is out of date.
