Beloved Beasts: Fighting for Life in an Age of Extinction by Michelle Nijhuis

5.0

This was a 4/5 star book, and in fact I changed how many stars I had clicked. This is a good introductory book for the development of the conservation movement and ideas and concepts we have today. It's a good and easy read, but, other than the Namibian couple and Soulé, there wasn't a lot that was new to me in the book, either on individuals or ideas. And, given that the book intro-ed with Linnaeus, having a chapter devoted to modern discussion of what a species is and related issues would have been good, along with discussion of conservation issues and focusing on species vs subspecies.
