Lords of Mercy
by Angel Lawson, Samantha Rue
I enjoyed this series, but I think this book burned me out. I started to realize really quickly in this one that I felt like the characters were continuing to stay stagnant rather than moving forward. I'll explain...
I didn't agree with what Story did at the beginning with Killian, Dimitri, and Tristian. I felt like she was just being dramatic. Don't get me wrong, I realize she felt wronged. But she did some awful stuff back at them as well. So I kinda feel like they were even and it just dragged on. Way too long if you ask me.
I was a little shocked at who Ted was. I didn't see that coming but the aftermath of this really made me roll my eyes. Story has become this Lady, Queen who protects her men. But then we decide to not kill 'Ted'. Yeah no that didn't work for me. Ted was trying to kill her men and openly admitted everything they did to try to make it happen and they don't deserve death??? It doesn't fit the dark bully aspect of this book. And especially after everything they had all been through. Nope, death was completely warranted.
Overall, it was a good book. I loved how the last several chapters were several years in the future. But I'm still going to nit-pick and say that we needed an epilogue to give us a glimpse into more of the future.
