The Watch That Ends the Night by Allan Wolf

5.0

I loved this book. I have only read 3 (regrettably) fiction books on the titanic. One, was a romance novel, (read by accident) the other, was a story about a family. But that book had little to do with the Titanic at all. It seemed that the story of their Atlantic crossing was just a hindrance, something thrown in to speed the book up. Then I read this book; wow. At first when I started reading I was a little apprehensive, only because the entire book is written in verse. Usually I steer clear of books formatted this way, but after reading this book for a few minutes, I forgot it was poetry and was hooked. The way Wolf mixes historical fact and fiction so well, its brilliant. He couldn't have done a better job. One thing I really enjoyed was how he incorporated the body pickup after the sinking, a few days later. That was so powerful. In a wonderful way.
