Sin is a Puppy That Follows you Home by Aliyu Kamal, Balaraba Ramat Yakubu

2.0

I originally read this in 2016 for a class. I no longer recall who’s the class was but I remember not understanding this book at all.

Rereading this as an adult this book is painfully sad. The amount of abuse, physical and mental that all the female characters have to go through for the sake of marriage is astounding. And just when you think the main character Rafi gets some reprieve from her dirtbag of a husband, she is forced to remarry him after being destitute. Insane!

Original review was 1 star.

I’ve bumped it to 1.75 because it taught me a little about the Nigerian Muslim culture
