This was a really cute little book and a fast read. I really enjoyed the world. A little bit of thievery, a little bit of magic, and a sapphic romance what's not to love?
I really liked Halvig. She was strong, literally, and knew what she wanted, but sometimes she was scared to get it. On the outskirts, this is a story about a woman who is trying to be comfortable with her sexuality as well as deal with her community's possible reactions to it and I think that was done pretty well. I liked that it wasn't the main focus of the book to make it a completely coming out story. We need more queer stories that are not solely about the trials of coming out.
I also enjoyed the plot of this story. I liked that Gerda had a mission to find her brother and save him from the snow queen, but I did find it a little predictable unfortunately. But it was a fast enough book that it didn't bother me too much.
I really liked the sapphic romance in the one too. I thought Halvig and Gerda were so cute and supportive of each other and I really liked that Gerda supported Halvig's struggle to come out. It was heartwarming and lovely.
Overall, this was a really cute book and I would recommend it to anyone who likes sapphic romantasy.
