The Crown Tower by Michael J. Sullivan
5.0

I'm normally not a fan of prequels, especially after going through the main course first, but The Crown Tower is one of those rare exceptions. While newcomers can certainly start here, they may leave wanting a bit more, but fans of the Riyria Revelations will appreciate what's on offer here.

There's something so fun about seeing the details of a story so often teased in the main series fleshed out fully. If you really wanted to know the story of how protagonists Royce and Hadrian met, and their mission to infiltrate the impregnable Crown Tower, this is where you're going to look.

Side note: I'll praise Michael's clean easy-to-read writing style once again here, as it really is one of the things that stands out most in his books.
