Very fun romp with monsters - oops, they prefer to be called coterie. Zoe is back home in New York City after an ill-chosen romantic affair ends her job in North Carolina. She's been unsuccessful at finding another gig and is running out of savings when she stumbles upon a help-wanted ad that sounds perfect for her: an upstart publishing firm needs an editor for travel guides, travel guides for coterie. She talks her way into the job as her experience makes her almost perfect for it; the only problem is she's human. Her boss is a vampire, and she deals with various beings new to her including demons and deities, zombies, sprites, and golems. There is a cute (human) neighbor next door, but you can't just talk with most humans about this hidden city-within-the-city. When troubles start up, Zoe finds out that her past may not be entirely behind her, but she has a book to get written.
