In My Rhythm
C.M. Campbell
Darius and Zora’s love story is sultry and steady. It’s their tenderness that fosters a love that is gentle and strong. Both parties have embraced the trauma of their youth. But, frequently the past, whether it be through guilt or shame lingers in the stillness. This is a story of two characters choosing to ground themselves in the present instead of running from yesterday’s disappointment. It’s revealing. You can’t hide from what festers inside, no matter how quiet you think the pain has become.
Campbell’s writing style is poetic in a way that ambles into your brain and stays there. Waiting for you to revisit when the time permits.
My takeaway is to be available for the good things. To be open for the unexpected, perfectly accidental moments. By no means does that mean that everything from that point will be uncomplicated. That would be too simple and nothing about life is simple when it comes to love.
Thank you for the ARC.
