Trick Mirror: Reflections on Self-Delusion by Jia Tolentino
5.0
We read Trick Mirror for episode 57 of the Bookstore Podcast. You can find it at that link or pretty much anywhere you get your podcasts.
Straight to top of my favorite books of 2019. I don't know what else to tell you really. We've got a lot of thoughtful and clever essays about living on the internet in this late-stage hellscape which is probably ruining everything, but also the memes are good - at least when they're not from Russian troll farms that are conducting the biggest scam of the 21st century. We're more connected than ever, but also maybe getting farther away from the ideal of our own personal philosophies and that's uncomfortable as hell and there are no answers so let's all be uncomfortable for a little bit OK???
