Overall this is the carpenter family focused novel I've been waiting for since Summer Knight and I really enjoyed it.
My only complaint is one that I have with nearly every fantasy author. As they get older, they care less and less about what people think of them and their writing becomes increasingly perverted. There were some especially disgusting scenes in this one that I'm sure the author could name a dozen excuses for but which were clearly just eye candy.
