Chasing the Sun by Lena Hendrix
4.75
Welcome to Star Harbour where you came for the mystery of the Lady in White and stayed for the Darling family.
There is something about Lena’s writing that no matter which small town she takes us to, it always feels like home.
Elodie Darling returns to her home town of Star Harbour - homeless, jobless and heart broken. When the opportunity to help Stan return his farm to a place where families flock to she jumps at the chance. What she didn’t expect was Callum Blackwood the ex military man turned local inn keeper next door.
Elodie was such a free spirit and I adored how she brought pure sunshine to Star Harbour. Finding a way to give back to the town while also finding herself was a joy to witness.
As for Cal, this grump has a marshmallow middle that was just waiting to be seen. He had held himself back from what he wanted for long but seeing Elodie have the tenacity to follow her dreams awoke something in him.
Seeing these two fall in love against the backdrop of the farm restoration was so much fun. The banter, the tension, the flirting. It was all there. Add the dynamic of Cal’s teenage son into the mix was just top notch Lena genius!
