Dark Harvest by Norman Partridge
1.0

Easily the worst horror novel I’ve read since “Sunglasses After Dark”. It reads like something that would spawn from a Tumblr writing prompt. The visual of the pumpkin guy driving a car is funny for approximately one page until it becomes an actual plot point and not some one-off weird gag. Even worse, this strays into the dreaded realm of Dark Fantasy, a subgenre that just doesn’t work for me. This is all to say that it makes complete sense that Netflix’s execs gave the green light to adapt this into an Original.
