A Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin

4.0

What a book!
Positives:
I sped through this! The writing style was awesome and easy to follow. The story was interesting and very immersive. In many ways, reading the book helped me understand aspects of the show that were lost on me when I first watched season 1. The plot was really strong and I thought all of the relationship dynamics, drama, etc. was really interesting and suspenseful.

Negatives:
I think my biggest issue was that there are just so many characters and it's really easy to forget who people are and what the relationship dynamics are, which makes understanding the intricate plot a little difficult. In the same way that the book helped me better understand the show, having watched season 1 already helped me remember characters better, as well as have a better understanding of the plot. I loved this book, but I am unsure of what it would be like to read it without having seen the show, and for that reason, I'm a little iffy about continuing the series. I don't remember much about season 2-6, so I'll have to see if I can keep up and stay interested.
