I really enjoyed reading something different then the usual romance or fantasy. The mystery plot made me enjoy the story a lot. I loved Alex and Ophelia, but the pacing felt a little off. Not much happened until 50% into the book, but then the last 50% was filled with a lot of romance. I did love how Alex and Ophelia listen to eachother and didn't make assumptions. I truly disliked the ending. I knew the story would continue in a second book, but I really don't like it when the final chapter suddenly throws all the good things that happened under the bus. That cliffhanger is brutal. Having to wait for the 2nd book to release will hurt.
