Twelve Years a Slave
by Solomon Northup
This is a really powerful read, full of injustice and sorrow. Telling his story, Northup represents all those slaves that weren’t able to escape the cotton fields, as well as every single slave either born free or born slave.
Some parts of the book were gruesome to the point that you doubt if this people have the slightest drop of humanity in them. An excellent read.
