This book started slow for me, but I quickly grew to love the story. Adventure, mystery, fun characters, a love of books/reading in every page, the best dog friend ever…how could I not fall in love with it?
There is a book-within-a-book format going on here, and at first I was much more interested in the second story than the main one. But I loved where they both ended up going and the connections that happened along the way. We also get a lot of great character moments and growth. I really enjoyed the magic in this story too, and how it works, and the whole concept of the doors. If you’ve ever opened a wardrobe in the hopes that it’ll lead you to Narnia, you should read this book!
The one thing that did annoy me was that I thought the mysterious villain was SO obvious and I was annoyed with January for not figuring it out…anyone else??
Also, how gorgeous is this cover? 😍😍😍
