The Grownup

Gillian Flynn came out with a short story and it’s just as messed up as her full fledged novels.
Like the rest of her books, the main character is really hard to like and she’s manipulative in her own way. This story’s protagonist doesn’t have a name and begins the story switching careers from giving hand jobs in the back of Spiritual Palms to reading auras in the front. Varying levels of fraud here, but relatively harmless, right?
Well, one day Susan Burke walks in wanting a reading. But her case is very interesting and very severe sounding so our nameless protagonist pays her a house call. The old house is definitely an eerie place and that’s where our little psychic fraud gets a little out of her depth.
This short story is pretty good and gripping enough to not want to put it down, so you can finish it really quickly if you have an hour to spare. I think I like her novels a little bit more though.
