It had a slow start but as soon as you properly get into the story, which was around the middle of the book for me, it gets really good. I definitly have a strong attachement to the characters and I feel like they all have distinct personalities. There is an overarching story that makes you want to read the rest of the series but there is also a completed story arc in the first book which makes you feel accomplished for finishing it without losing interest in the overall story.  Nonetheless I'm very excited to read the rest of the series!
The only thing I didn't enjoy was the lovestory between Adam and Blue. It felt a bit redundant knowing that she's destined to get together with Gansey and I'm pretty over the jealousy between friends trope. Also their relationship gives me way more "bestfriend" than romantic vibes so those scenes were a bit painful to go through but still not bad enough to stop me from reading or falling in love with the characters. Also the last sentence is a perfect ending that hints enough at a continuation without being overly dramatic or shocking.
