Man do I loath Anakin Skywalker! I can't stand him! Thank you George Lucas for ruining what could have been a great character. The Republic fell because a 'man-child' fell in love; yep, nothing more, nothing less. A whiny child fell in love and the whole Universe had to pay for it.
In spite of my utter dislike for the main character, I now understand much better the depth of Palpatine's conspiracy. One can't help but admire the man. Great manipulator, patient and ruthless. And the Jedi, blind to all of it because when you sit on a high horse and have no desire to bend just a tiny bit, shit happens. "You were the chosen one!" exclaimed Obi-Wan at the end. So what? Chosen by whom, why? Obviously they had it wrong.
So, thank you Mr Stover for an entertaining story. For allowing me to get into the head of Palpatine, Obi-Wan, Yoda, Mace Windu, General Grievous and the rest. I understand them better. You did your best and better than George Lucas.
