This was such an interesting book. For a middle-grade novel, I liked the thriller element and that it was a little creepy but not too creepy. The cast of characters were lovable and realistic. I particularly loved Sadie and her quiet protectiveness for her brother. This was the second in the series which I didn’t realize, but I don’t think you need to read them in order. It did function as a standalone.
I wished the plot moved a little faster. The one question I have - and maybe this is a series thing - is why the Nightmare King attached himself to a Travis in the first place.
Overall, a really interesting novel! I’ll definitely be checking out the first and others in the series.
