Nudge: Improving Decisions about Health, Wealth, and Happiness
by Richard H. Thaler, Cass R. Sunstein
Libertarian paternalism. You would have thought it an oxymoron. Strange to have missed this book when it first came out. Obviously, they are onto something. The studies they describe are fascinating, the suggestions thoughtful. I could have done without the self-deprecating aren't-we-chummy humor. I just shudder to think of how oppressive it might feel to live in a world where "big data" combines with libertarian-paternalistic nudging. Back to Eggers's Circle, in no time.
