"For trans and nonbinary youth:

You’re beautiful. You’re important. You’re valid.
You’re perfect."

The second I read the dedication above, I knew this book was going to play with my heartstrings. Everything about this book--the writing, characters (especially the lovingly complex Felix), and overarching themes--did exactly that. Felix's initial view of himself was heartbreaking: being “one marginalization too many”. My heart ached at the constant invalidation and aggressions Felix faced, both on a macro and micro scale. I laughed when
the old man from the train ended up being Declan's grandfather, and his gay grandson was, in fact, Declan
. I adored the quasi-anonymous & sweet texting and in the end, I especially loved the hope for the future Felix got in the end.

Most importantly, I loved the perspective this story shares. I'll never understand fully what it's like to experience the world like Felix has, but this story peeled back the curtain for a moment to give readers a glimpse at what that might look like. I'm forever grateful to those who share their burning stories like this one, and I'm so glad it was heard by a larger group of people.

“You don’t get to use my pain to make your point.”

I almost rated 4 stars, however, because of the line "First best show is Boruto, THEN FMA: Brotherhood, then Death Note" because this is an absolute CRIME. (note my heavy sarcasm here, please.)

I'm so SO glad I picked up this book and that the reviews were spot on. This heartfelt story is absolutely worth the read!

“You deserve to be loved,” he tells me, then kisses me. “You deserve all of my love.”

p.s. "Felix" meaning happy, and in turn making this book title "happy ever after," was the absolute cherry on top of this book!
