Secrets on the Fens
by Joy Ellis
A gripping, multi faceted storyline that is fast paced and addictive. On the surface there are young people found dead and posed carefully with classical undertones as though they are lovers, but are they actually? I loved the Gothic aspect and the different layers of the plot as they unfolded. There is plenty to get your teeth into, the criminal underworld of rival families, religiously obsessive and oppressive parents, historic backstories with previously unsolved murder and intrigue and people on the fringes of society. This author is new to me but I didn’t have any difficulty catching up and jumping straight in and I warmed immediately to the main characters, definitely plan to read more of Joy’s previous titles now.
