One Small Thing
by Erin Watt
Now this book is a definition of a guilty pleasure. I overall ate this book up, if you are looking for drama step right up, it's jammed packed in this book. That's what kept me going, other than that this was an okay book. The cast of characters, my god, not one of them is likable not one. I guess that's fine when an author makes an unlikable cast but I had no reason to support our main character Beth other than "damn her parents are crazy. " A lot of people reviewing really liked Chase, he was okay for me. There were some good moments like Chase and Beth volunteering at the animal shelter and the ending I liked.
Spoilers
I didn't really buy how Beth's parents turned on Jeff so fast and how fast they were to thank Chase. Literally the whole book they loved Jeff and treated him like a part of the family. Also how Beths friends just accept her back again. A better ending would have been accepting they had been her friends for a long time but it was time for growth and change, like none of her friends were good people. It killed me.
Tbh this would be great for middle schoolers and high schoolers, I could totally envision myself as an 8th grader eating this book up. Im just not the right group for this book. 3 stars!
