Starting off with a statement on the authors intentions with the story lines she is representing and the fact that it went through sensitivity screen was a great start. But any book that contains the word “lumbersexual” is going to have to give a lot in other areas for me to like it.
The female protogonist lacks defined emotions that would be reasonable in this situation and often lacked reasonable explainations for her actions - intentional character quirk? Unsure.
There are also many secondary characters that are added with relatively little info so it became overwhelming at points to try and match names with previous tidbits about their personalities. I struggled with the sermons being presented as social media posts, but there is a good chance that is just the millennial in me. The conflict that threatens the relationship being one between the character, social media response, and the negative thoughts it provoked was a novel take on the standard plot!

Just as this review teeter-totters between positive and negative, I similarly oscillated between enjoying and feeling neutral about this book.
