Honestly, this book was amazing but it took me so long to read since I was in a massive reading slump. Without the slump I would probably rate it higher than a four. I think it's just because it was a long book, a very big one. But the writting was beautiful, every thing that was written had a MEANING to it. I remember one of the french proverbs that was like, real love means you sacrifice to get it. Something like that and by reading this book it really REALLY showed that, the relationship between Reid and Lou. How they would sacrifice their own bodies, souls for eachother, to save one another. The writting was chef's kiss it was so good, lots of imagery, it was amazing. It allowed me to really envision what the characters are doing all the time, it made it easy to really go into the book. Anyway, Lou's character is so good as well, complicated but good. She has her flaws but they are a main focus, I really liked the concept of if she uses to much she can fall into that trance where she is ENEVELOPED by the magic and evil takes place, how her friends and Reid help her overcome it and start to tread lightly. This was a big dip but hopefully Lou gets better, you can see the major difference of Lou's character between the first and second book and how dying her hair really symbolised and foreshadowed the troubles she would have with her Mother and her own Magic. ALSO BTW CLAUD DEVERUAX IS ONE OF MY FAVS, I was so like cautious around him, I was scared he was going to ruin his character because I really liked him. But love how he's a father figure towards the end of a book to Lou, and how he really cares about her. There is comfort in the found family in this book. But the ending wowww, honestly it made me like Claud more and hopefully we know more about his sister because she seems so cool. If you read the book you know what I'm talking about. I WROTE TOO MUCH!!
