Really should have looked this one up before reading. It's mostly sad, and I have complicated feelings about even the triumphant bits.
This follows three generations (1619, 1942, present day) of women from one family. I was not expecting abuse to be so involved in all three storylines. And I'm not entirely sure how I feel about this book's exploration of pregnancies for legacy sake. I don't know. I definitely have to think about this one some more.

Graphic: Rape, Sexual violence, Miscarriage, Pregnancy, Sexual assault, and Blood
Moderate: Alcohol, Death of parent, Domestic abuse, Medical trauma, Infertility, Medical content, and Sexism
Please be warned that every women's storyline heavily deals with sexual assault and violence and the resulting trauma, as well as traumatic, unplanned/forced pregnancies (as well as self-induced losses).
