I am getting so many “Enchanted” (Taylor Swift) vibes from this book! Over and over I kept thinking how Jacob was completely enchanted by Eve every time he was in a room with her. It was adorable.

Act Your Age, Eve Brown focuses on Eve, who is finally forced to nail down a job and a place to live for a year after her parents cut her off. She stumbles upon Castell Cottage, who is looking for a chef, and, well, runs over its owner. Oops!

Eve Brown is an absolute delight—at one point, Jacob describes her as sunshine, and that is a perfect description for her! A lover of the finer music in life and a heart of gold, she immediately sinks into life at the B&B. She is fiery and confident, but inside, is terrified of failing one more time and struggling with memory processing. The B&B gives her the space to grow and find a person that doesn’t make her feel embarrassed or like she is “too much.” I absolutely loved seeing the representation of an autistic woman. Autism, in general, is something that is rarely represented in novels, especially romance, and even less so with a female lead. I was a little bummed to see that many reviews I saw did not mention this.

Jacob, on the other hand, is the moon in this story. He definitely has that Mr. Darcy-esque grumpiness, but when Eve comes into his life (by hitting him with his car…), he absolutely *glows.* This is a man who usually falls into the shadows and turns off most people with his gruffness and blunt words. But like Eve, he is struggling inside with a fear of abandonment and trying desperately to make his B&B a safe haven for all, especially people like him. Jacob is also autistic, and Hibbert does an excellent job showing what that looks like for him. It is not a large focus on the storyline, but woven into how he is described and the actions he takes, like it should be!

The story is absolutely adorable. As with the other two Brown Sisters books, it is a fun, fast read, but Hibbert tugs at your heart with the emotional moments and struggles the characters face. While I absolutely love this entire series, I think this one is my favorite. I felt such a special connection with these characters, and I almost regret reading this book as quickly as I did—I want more time with them!. It made me very sad to close this book, knowing the series is done, but I know Talia Hibbert will continue to delight us with more brilliant books. I’m not sure if she will keep writing books in the same universe as the Brown Sisters, but I would love to see where Eve and Jacob are at later on.

For the record—my personal ranking for the Brown Sisters series is 1. Act Your Age, Eve Brown. 2. Take a Hint, Dani Brown. 3. Get a Life, Chloe Brown.

(Steam level is high, as always🔥Jacob will definitely make you blush...)
