Christine by Stephen King
3.0
I’m not really one for true horror, which is partly why I picked Christine as one of my introductory King novels. After all, a book about a car can’t be that scary, right? Well, partly right. In the end, it was much more suspenseful than I had expected and not outright scary. Still, I thought that using LeBay to ramp up the fear factor was a great move on King’s part, and his involvement in the story drew up some things that I hadn’t anticipated I would be fears of mine (i.e. choking to death). I wasn’t a huge fan of how sexual King’s description of Leigh was as it felt pretty shallow and reductionist, but that might just be me. Otherwise, not a terrible book.
