Rampjaar 1672: Hoe de Republiek aan de ondergang ontsnapte by Luc Panhuysen

informative reflective medium-paced

As a history enthusiast, I find books like this extremely fascinating. Despite the quite dense topic, there was a clear line and I wasn’t feeling overwhelmed with ‘characters’ (some history authors like to name drop as many famous names they can think of).
What I found a bit disappointing was the focus on one particular part of the country. I know a lot of the fighting took place there, but must every small town conquest be described?
