I started this series with my book club and fell in love with Lauren Asher's writing. I adore the Kane brothers even though they all make horrible decisions when it comes to the ladies they love.
Cal though, man I always knew that I would love Cal's story the most even though it broke my heart! I felt that no one gave this guy a chance! He was the family punching bag and he went with it because his alcohol addiction could numb the pain to it all. When his task came up, he had to go back and sell the house where he fell in love with Lana.
Lana is a hell of a woman and a wonderful mother. I love that all of the women in this series are women of color because as a woman of color, I was getting tired of imagining the characters as POC even though their descriptions were not, lol. And as much as I wanted Lana to just forgive Cal and move on, I know why she couldn't. The damage he did was done and continued. He kept making mistakes after mistakes with her. But I wanted her to be able to forgive him for why he didn't tell her the real reason why he wanted to sell the house.
I felt out of all three books this one had the best actual plot and story. We see such a redemption for Cal and his love story with Lana and their child was adorable! The Kane brothers dad is a freaking coward and I am glad that he got nothing! Their grandpa...I don't know man, I see what he was trying to do but this was such a weird way to do it. The spice I would say isn't as much as the other two but overall an amazing read and I highly recommend! 5/5 and this is book 39/110 reading goal!
