This was an awesome conclusion to the Nevada Baylor part of the series! Everything from the New Rome conspiracy to the new family threat introduced in the previous book to the intense romance between Nevada and Rogan was wrapped up well. But the authors left room for the world and characters to expand even further and I'm glad there are more books to get to in this series.
Without a doubt, my favourite aspect of the series so far is the characters. Don't get me wrong, the world-building and magic system is expansive and incredible but I love when characters feel so real that you wish you could be besties with them. That's what IA did with this series. Nevada + Mad Rogan are (obvi) #1 but I also loved Bug and Bern, Catalina and Grandma Frida, Cornelius and Zeus, and Matilda and all the animal friends! Also, Sergeant Teddy?! Hello, you big bear!
