Somebody's Daughter: A Memoir by Ashley C. Ford

medium-paced

4.0

I just finished the audiobook narrated by the author which always elevates a memoir. It’s always challenging to review or rate someone’s personal story because it’s not about “liking” a character or the plot. What I can say is that this was honest and doesn’t try to apologize or justify the choices she or her family made. I thought it was very well done and absolutely worth a read or listen.

My audiobook included an interview with the author where she shared these two nuggets which I had to write down. Maybe you’ll be struck by them as well.

  • How do you pass along the history without passing along the trauma?

  • The best thing about being a human is that you have other humans
