A Veil of Vines by Tillie Cole

2.0

A Veil of Vines definitely made me think of Romeo and Juliet while reading it. However, it kind of bored me as well. It took forever for the pace to pick up that I almost dnf'd this book. Which is super rare for me to even think about doing that - so thank god it picked up.

Now the one thing that interested me in this book was that it had to deal with wine. Seriously, every time I would type out vines.. I would somehow type wines. Not saying that it was a sign but that's probably why I wanted to read this book so badly. However, I just think it wasn't the book for me.

Okay, so it's about Caresa Acardi, who is a duchess from italian royalty. Yawn. She is supposed to be married off to some prince - which of course she doesn't want to do.. yada yada yada. Then one day she goes off for a walk and wines up meeting the man of her dreams. Can you feel my eyes rolling and also saying.. cliche as fuck.

Bada boom - instant connection between these two.

Speaking of her other half, his name is Achilee Marchesi and he's basically lived his entire life on the Bella Collina Vineyard. Can you feel my jealousy right now?? I WOULD LOVE TO LIVE ON A VINEYARD! Then of course the story dives into how these two are true soul mates and all of that other stuff and how their love is super rare. Barf.

Again, I just don't think that this book was for me which is disappointing to say the least. After reading this book, I can say that I do want to go to Italy one day in my life (before I die) and somehow live on a vineyard. The last part doesn't have to be in Italy but hey if it works out I will be super surprised.

Overall, it was an okay book. Maybe it was my mood, how tired I am, or how annoyed I am that it isn't snowing when the forecast called for snow (who knows?) but yeah.. maybe I'll take another chance on this book and see if my opinion changes.
