That One Night by Emily Rath

5.0

When you’ve got to make the most of just one night together…

Skipping out on her brother’s post-wedding brunch, Rachel finds herself sitting alone in the bar of her hotel, trying to drown her sorrows about missing out on the Barkley Fellowship. Well, not totally alone because one guy is shooting his shot despite the big sign on her forehead telling him to piss off. Just as she’s about to fall off her chair trying to get away from this guy, she’s saved by a mysterious and gorgeous stranger. Their connection is instant, and it’s not long before they find themselves back in Rachel’s hotel room for one night, no identities, and no strings attached.

Pucking Around has been blowing up across social media, and I just couldn’t ignore the hype any longer. Emily does a fantastic job at setting up the Rachel and Jake’s story, and really pulls you into the Jacksonville Rays story, even though this prequel alludes to very little of Rachel and Jake’s story away from Seattle.

I knew this was a spicy read, but I didn’t actually realise just how spicy, which I’m definitely not complaining about. Emily does not hold back, and this is just a 100 page novella - just wait until you get to the 750 page first book! Rachel and Jake have instant chemistry that is oozing off the page, and there’s a nice balance of sweet and swoony on top of ALL the spice, even in such a short book that’s filled mainly with sex.

Emily is really good with clearly outline content warnings at the beginning of her books, as well as tags and tropes which is super helpful. This novella contains detailed sex scenes that include elements of choking, impact play, praise, and dirty talk.

While this prequel isn’t necessary as Emily does recap the story in Pucking Around, it’s a fabulous teaser for the full story and is one you definitely want to read first! You’ll be sucked into Rachel and Jake’s lives and be reaching for Pucking Around the moment you finish!
