The Opposite of Loneliness: Essays and Stories by Marina Keegan

5.0

A great collection of short stories and essays. One of my favourite stories was "Reading Aloud" and perhaps my favourite essay was "Even Artichokes Have Doubts".
Many situations, either in the sories or essays, were very relatable and often formulated in a way which makes you think "Hey, that's exactly what I was thinking" (but could never express in such an eloquent and beautiful way).
The accounts of Marinas professors/teachers at the beginning and end of the book leave me feeling sad about not having met her, as she seemed to be quite the inspiring character.
The experience of reading "The Opposite of Loneliness" will stay with me for a while and I am devastated that this young women will not be publishing any new pieces of art.
