I like Jen Hatmaker. I've listened to her on a few podcasts and find her smart, funny and charming. Sadly, though For the Love stays true to her voice (Jen is genuinely hilarious), I'm leaving this book feeling a kind of empty disappointment. There were some nuggets that sparked my heart or mind (hence 3 stars instead of only 2), but I found little substance. Most of what Jen discusses are lessons learned simply (and only) by living humbly before the Lord.
If you're in a season in which intellectual satisfaction isn't something you need/want, I do believe you'll leave reading this book feeling encouraged and more lighthearted.
