Snort-laugh loudly on buss - check
I read that this book was supposed to be funny but that doesn't really do it justice, it's fucking hilarious! It's dual point of view but we only get the view through Whit's eyes a couple of times, the rest is all Caleb and his world view and view of himself sure is entertaining.
Whit and Caleb's relationship develops rather unconventionally and some of Caleb's inner monologues are the funniest I have heard in my life. I am usually not a huge fan of Alexander Cendede as a narrator, I often feel like he is a bit over the top, but when being Caleb that actually works great.
While Caleb is an open book and no stranger to speaking before thinking, Whit isn't as open with his thoughts and feelings. He also seems haunted and it's soon obvious that his backstory isn't going to be pretty. Head's up, check content warnings regarding mental illness.
Usually I like my MCs a bit older than 21-22 years but the comedy factor made up for it. When it comes to how their relationship starts, I don't think I have ever read anything like it. Caleb is the absolute sweetest and I loved how Whit automatically was so important to him that he took everything else in stride. And with a huge amount of humour.
Being the sucker for found family that I am, I loved the dynamics within Caleb's family. Completely crazy but warm and welcoming in a loving and caring way. How they immediately almost adopted Whit was heartwarming. 😍
