What's in There?: All about Before You Were Born by Robie H. Harris

2.0

While this is accessible for young children about to become siblings or who know someone expecting a baby, there were several things that managed to irritate me. Occasionally using cutesy terms (twisty tube instead of umbilical cord) might have been fine, but at the end the author claims that when a doctor has to cut the baby out this hurts neither the baby nor the mother. I understand not wanting to alarm a small child about potential injury to a baby or mom, but that would have been a great opportunity to at least mention that the whole process is a lot of hard work for mom and we should be really, really nice to her afterward.
