i gave this book a 2.5 stars but i just rounded it up a bit bc goodreads doesn’t do half stars. i hadn’t actually planned on reading this book for another couple of months even though it had been in my ibooks library waiting for closer to a year now, but i wanted to read something short and hopefully enjoyable since i haven’t read anything yet in april.

i have to say, i wasn’t a fan of the writing style, it did feel quite corny a lot of the time and then we weren’t made aware of the time jumps at all and it really messed up with the flow of the book i feel. also i just don’t think august and iris had enough time just getting to know each other to feel the way they did from the start, mainly for august because i understand for iris, the not knowing what could’ve been instead of what relationship she’d ended up in makes the angst on her part seem more realistic.

i really did enjoy iris as a main character, she was definitely likeable and my heart really went out for her whilst *that* happened and i’m glad she got the happy ending she deserved. august, i liked i guess but he felt a bit too 2d to me. like he didn’t exactly feel like a character with interests other than basketball and his constant simping over iris (which i get but still) lol
