I went into this with higher hopes than were fulfilled. Sera and G never really interested me and there were so many flashbacks that didn't always add anything. Too often I was actually bored with the story and just wanted to see how all of this would end. I've like Dylan since the beginning (yes, even though he was the bad guy) so I wanted more from him here. And I'm not exactly sure how happy I am with how things ended for him.

Not surprising, we pick up right after the last book. The group has been chasing Dylan but always manage to miss catching him. Things between him and Sera are obviously tense and occasionally hostile. Most rare is when we get to see the softer side of Dylan, the side that loved Ava more than anything. Cade's group is not the only ones after them, and Dylan does his damnedest to keep Sera from evil Cora and her henchmen. But then Cora shows up with a deal and a present, both of which Dylan readily accepts. So when G shows up and takes Sera back, Dylan isn't worried. He even revels in dealing G a slow and painful death before he skips on to his newest target.

When G and Sera reunite, a whole lot of nothing happens. We learn about both of their pasts and the terrible things that have happened to them, both before and during their capture. We eventually also learn exactly why Cora is determined to get Sera back. Knowing Dylan's deal with Cora, the two of them hope to beat him to the target. And when they do, they make a deal of their own. Not that any of it goes down the way they were planning.

Eventually they meet back up with Cade and more plans are made. At least these ones go a lot better. Especially with Cade's general there with support and in control. They finally manage to corner the evil Cora, but then she does something that had me roll my eyes....hard. But things all work out in the end. Some people die, some people live, and many have to decide what their future will hold.

The extra epilogues were a nice touch. I was especially happy that Cade and Kori were finally really together.
