Naked '76 by Kevin Brooks
3.0
I generally enjoyed this book. Mainly I just got it because of the cover (yay for Docs!) but also because of its premise.
This book is set in 1975/1976 London in the emerging punk rock scene, and follows the main character as she joins an emerging punk band as the bass guitarist. There is romance drama, and general drama, but I think what I liked about this was how it really got into the scene. Drugs and alcohol are portrayed, as is the sex and the hardcore attitude of the day (or so I've been told/seen/researched. 90's baby, y'all!). But there is also an element of the IRA. It's actually a very large element in this story, and quickly becomes the underlying story in place of the band and the punk scene.
This isn't generally a period I read about/look into, so it was interesting to see a new perspective.
