The Changing Temperatures of Heartache by Cassie Senn

5.0

Cassie Senn's poetry is confessional, deep and honest. I thoroughly enjoyed this piece of art as it follows the multiple stages someone goes through when they love, get their heart broken and recuperate.

The poems are narrative and beautifully organized in a way that takes the reader from a certain A point until they reach a certain Z point. The same pattern is followed by each sub-section.

There's lots of value in reading poetry that is emotional, gut-wrenching, and sweet. All these adjectives perfectly describe my experience while reading Senn's poetry. I felt like I did have a close friend somewhere far away from where I am who'll listen and tend to my open love wounds.

Something worth commenting is that love in this book takes on many facets and not a single gender. The subject is always "someone" and the object of desire "someone else," thus marking the experience of reading this book as universal and approachable by all.

The poet shares insight on friendships and long-lost friends too, something that I highly appreciated as not so many poets talk about friends in their writings.

Thank you for bringing this little jewel into this world! And to the rest of my followers here: do read self-published poets as their work is really a hidden gem in a sea of common ones!
