Kate in Waiting by Becky Albertalli

3.0

Good, but not as awesome as her others. Maybe I’m just not into theater kids who are super judgey about others, but I got really sick of Kate’s constant references to fuckboys (sometimes just fboys) and her dismissal of them. It was super repetitive and I know that that’s how teenagers are - they just repeat their buzzwords over and over and it is annoying. I thought part of this book would be her realization that she maybe shouldn’t be like that about other people, but it wasn’t. It was cute how she and her friend Anderson shared crushes, but weird that she would stop liking a boy if Anderson didn’t like him. She *did* grow out of that, however. I listened to the audio and the narrator unfortunately had a very squeaky voice. She got the tone right though, and did the funny parts quite well.
